What types of accommodation do you offer at Villa Belvedere?

At Villa Belvedere we have two distinct areas of accommodation, both are of course, very pleasant and comfortable. One part is in the original, 1920s main hotel building, described below, where basically the atmosphere tends to be more traditional although discreetly regularly, brought up to date, regarding the wellbeing and comfort of our guests, etc., and while some rooms are similar, no two rooms are identical.

Our newer, “External Accommodation “on the other hand, described separately, is more modern and contemporary.

In the original hotel-building, all our accommodation, all over the hotel, has the same high quality, furnishings, fittings and fabrics and except for rooms known as “Classic” rooms, that face town side, there are truly beautiful sea views to be enjoyed. There are double rooms, with sleeping arrangements organised either with a comfortable, king size double bed, or two equally good quality, twin beds, whichever are preferred. We also have triple rooms to sleep three and quadruple rooms to sleep four people.   On request we will also provide our good quality baby cots for small children. Classic rooms, for example, that measure some 18-20 m²   although they have no sea view, are just as comfortable and pleasant as all our accommodation, with well-appointed shower-bathrooms, and the large, town-facing windows are sound-proofed to airport standard when closed, -as are our windows all over the hotel. French Balcony rooms, that measure some 18-20m², are so called because their narrow, Juliet-Style balconies, are  reached through “French” windows  and the balconies  offer just enough room to stand out on them and enjoy the beautiful, broad  views of the sea Personal Sun-Terrace rooms as the name suggests, of approximately the same size as above, are again similar to other rooms, but as mentioned, no two are identical,  and their spacious, personal sun terraces, equipped with comfortable seating, a small table, a sun-umbrella and of course with splendid sea views, are rather like having an extra room to enjoy. Junior Suites are larger and measure some28-32m². Some have two separate areas, a main bedroom and another area, or else another separate room, that can be prepared as a welcoming, personal lounge, or as a second bedroom. There is a personal sun-terrace, equipped as described above.   Some Junior Suites have one, well-appointed shower-bathroom and some have two.   Please note that the above measurements do not include space occupied by shower-bathrooms, balconies or terraces, that are all extra to the sizes quoted.  Moreover, while we guarantee the type of accommodation requested and reserved, as described above, and we do our best whenever possible, to satisfy any particular request, we cannot guarantee a particular room number or floor, because of the risk of overlapping bookings. and therefore, we prefer not to include photos of accommodation with our replies.  On our website at www.villabelvedere.it,there are good, clear photos of the various, above-mentioned, types of accommodation that we offer, together with other information.

Our newer, “External Accommodation “

Please note: although pretty Taormina is open and functioning all year round nowadays, as mentioned above, in season, but not during winter months,(please check for dates), guests in the External Accommodation have full access to all the amenities of the main hotel, such as our pretty swimming pool for example, where a tall palm tree grows on a tiny island in the centre, standing amid our beloved and well-cared-for, terraced gardens, overlooking the sea, with spectacular views of our neighbouring Mount Etna, away to the south. Also available in season. is our gym, and our various, welcoming, comfortable lounges, with truly beautiful views, and of course our bars, and openair, lunch-time restaurant, in the hotel and in our gardens.  Our “External Accommodation” is mostly situated on the opposite side of the same road as the main hotel building and open all year round.   It fully occupies our own completely renewed, and very modern, designer-planned, private buildings,  that are divided into:  Family Rock Suites, each  measuring some90m², are composed of two, separate, very pleasant bedrooms, two well-appointed, shower-bathrooms and a spacious, very comfortable, living area, as well as a functional, designer kitchen as can be seen on our website, at www.villabelvedere.com

Moreover, there are very beautiful, but different views from both sides of the suite.  The day area looks out at the sea in the Bay of Naxos, while the night area looks onto a pretty, rock garden at the foot of the high rock-face, of Taormina’s Monte Tauro, that is richly covered in spontaneous, natural, Mediterranean vegetation where the gentle sounds of the ‘breathing’ of the leaves, encourage restful sleep.  The two Rock Garden Suites are slightly smaller, totalling some 60m² and stand right above the pretty, planted, rock garden. Each Rock Garden Suite is very new and very modern as they were all styled, both in interior design and furnishings, by renowned, modern Italian designers, and each one measures some 40 m² and has two areas; a night area with a comfortable bedroom, its own shower-bathroom, and a spacious bay area, furnished with comfortable divans. It also has a functional kitchen, with windows that open onto a view of the rock face of Monte Tauro, with its abundance of Mediterranean vegetation above the pretty, plants rock garden.  As the sun does not enter directly, these suites are pleasantly cool in summer.  The Infinity Rock Suite is truly unique and occupies the whole top floor of the building. It is divided into the suite itself, and its ample terrace, with broad views. There is an outdoor “emotional” shower, that offers a refreshing ‘escape’ and provides a unique and liberating bathing and sunbathing experience. The designer-planned suite is very tranquil, with a very modern, comfortable bathtub, and the night area is especially quiet, as it is placed towards the imposing rock face covered with spontaneous vegetation, where only the rustle of leaves might be heard at night. The living area has a super-functional kitchen, part, of course, of the brilliant designer-planning of the whole suite, while outside,  the very spacious, unique, Infinity terrace, offers views across the  Bay of Naxos and beyond, out over the sea, to the far horizon  and sweeping round, southwards, includes mighty Mount Etna  and its fairly frequent and often spectacular activity that can be observed and photographed in perfect safety from our property.     The Deluxe Studio Apartments: while still on the opposite side of the same road, stand some 50 metres from the main hotel building, but at a slightly higher ground level, so that the panoramic sea views. from the wall-to-wall windows, and spacious balconies equipped with comfortable seating, etc. are unimpeded. Each studio apartment measures, some 35 mq, not counting bathroom and balcony space. They are on split-level and self-contained, with a living area, a sleeping area, and a very functional kitchen area.  Villa Rigamonti: a traditional, family villa, has two separate floors, a ground floor and an upper floor, each with a separate entrance. The villa is situated within our own beautiful garden and overlooks the sea. Ideal for families, it lacks nothing in gracious comfort, and plenty of space outside, where there is a patio surrounded by flowered borders, and trees, and overlooking the sea, with a family size table and chairs, as well as other comfortable seating, that is ideal for al-fresco. family meals.

The Ground Floor Suite in Villa Rigamonti:  measures some 80m² (not counting bathrooms, terraces and outside, patio areas). There are two spaciously comfortable and stylish double bedrooms, plus a newly enlarged and completely renovated, single bedroom. The suite offers two, well-appointed shower bathrooms, a welcoming, spacious lounge with a large table and chairs, comfortable armchairs, and a large, fully functional kitchen, too. As mentioned, there is a terraced patio outside, framed with flowering borders and shady trees, with sun-loungers, a sun umbrellas, as described.  The Upper Floor Suite: of Villa Rigamonti. designed as a studio apartment, is smaller and measures some 25m², but it has a very spacious outside terrace (30m²) overlooking the sea. This suite is ideal for two people, with a separate entrance, a comfortable double bedroom, well-appointed shower bathroom, a functional kitchen, and a light-filled living area.

Villa Maddalena

Recently inaugurated, our gracious Villa Maddalena and its own walled garden stand adjacent to Hotel Villa Belvedere overlooking the sea. Following Villa Belvedere’s architecture, this once-private home was built hillside descending towards the coastline.

Renovations were carried out to ensure the utmost comfortable living conditions to our guests while preserving its original elegance.

Villa Maddalena offers the same accommodations as Villa Belvedere: daily maid-service, heating and A/C, as well as Wi-Fi, and a flat-screen TV. Villa Maddalena comprises two apartments and two suites located on three floors.

The Grand Apartment situated on the top floor can be reached from the street by a gated staircase opening onto a private courtyard where a majestic palm tree greets guests. The largest of these apartments opens on a well-furnished hall leading to the sleeping quarters on one side and the living quarters on the other.

The lovely master bedroom (17m²) built with French windows opens onto a Juliet-style balcony from which can be admired the Ionian Sea. A spacious comfortable lounge (22m²) provides a large divan-bed convertible into a double bed, if needed, as well as cozy armchairs. The apartment suite offers two well-appointed bathrooms, one equipped with a bathtub and shower, the other with a walk-in shower. The modern kitchen, fitted with the latest appliances, also includes a Nespresso machine for coffee or tea as well as a daily supply of pods and tea bags, courtesy in all our accommodations.

A private terrace with a spectacular sea view is accessible from a spiralling staircase located outside the front door of this house-like apartment.

Junior Suites

The smallest unit also located in the quiet courtyard face the Grand Apartment. Ideally suited for one or two persons, it has a very attractive bedroom with a king size bed convertible into two regular twin beds (if preferred). This sunny suite has a well-appointed shower-bathroom, a functional kitchen and a pretty courtyard view.

The two other Junior Suites are located on the lower floors of Villa Maddalena as the design of the villa follows the natural downward slope towards the coastline. Both share a common private entrance hall. The upper suite offers a large double bed, easily converted into two twin beds, and a divan where a third person can be accommodated, if required. It also provides a well-appointed shower-bathroom. It has a Nespresso machine but no kitchen. It does open however onto a spacious terrace overlooking the everchanging sea.

From the common entrance hall, a beautiful marble staircase leads to the loft-style apartment on the lower floor. It is suitable for one or two guests. Nested in a beautiful alcove with a marble headboard, the king-size bed can also be converted in two twin beds if required. A dining area with original wood cabinets gives access to a cozy country kitchen where from a lovely wood-frame window can be admired the pink bougainvillea, the stone garden and the magnificent sea. An ultra-modern bathroom furbished with a high-tech walk-in shower provides quite the shower experience. Bedroom and dining area open onto terraces where guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch, cocktails and dinner while admiring the sea view. A few steps down from one of the terraces, a private stone-paved garden equipped with sun beds allows guests to enjoy the sea view as well as the peace and quiet offered by Villa Maddalena.

All four suites share a gated entrance from the street. A marble staircase with sea view descends towards Villa Belvedere’s terraced gardens and lovely pool.

From spring to autumn, when Villa Belvedere is open, guests who prefer the privacy of Villa Maddalena also have full access to hotel amenities, including buffet breakfast.

Taormina’s generally mild winters offer guests a pretty town centre, beautiful public gardens with a spectacular view of the sea and Mount Etna, and numerous sites to visit, as well as shops, bars and restaurants to discover all year round.

Villa Belvedere is suitable for disabled people?

Although because of different levels, Villa Belvedere is perhaps not the ideal hotel for a disabled person, because it is built following the slope of the land down towards the coastline, but we do of course have large modern lifts to every floor and the only real problem could be that between the lift in the hotel and the smaller one that reaches the garden and pool area, there are some steps. The pool too, is accessed by steps, even in the shallow end.

Having said that, our staff are always ready to lend a hand when needed.

We do have a couple of rooms for disabled people, however, that are spacious enough to be comfortably navigated in a wheelchair and the showers in them are in compliance with Italian law, so that they can be used by someone in a wheelchair.

What beds can be found within the accommodation?

Our beds, and very comfortable mattresses, are of the best quality, and made by the international company, ‘Simmons’. The single beds, which are referred to as ‘twin beds’, (when there are two of them, standing separately in a room) measure 200cm x 90cm. A double bed is formed by joining twin beds, with a special locking method, forming a large, stable comfortable bed, which then measures 200cm x 180cm. All our rooms can be prepared with either a double bed or two (or three, if required) regular, comfortable, single beds.

Naturally all come with crisp white linen, plumped-up pillows to ensure that perfect night's sleep.

What toiletries and amenities are to be found in Hotel Villa Belvedere rooms?

In the well-appointed shower-bathrooms, guests can expect to find products such as soaps, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner, produced with the finest essential oils and 100% natural botanicals, inspired by Mediterranean herbs and flowers that give them a natural fragrance, as well as certain therapeutic qualities.

There are also fine quality, cotton towels, shower caps, a sewing kit, and two a hairdryer.  One is attached to the wall in the bathroom, while the other can be plugged in anywhere in the room or the bathroom.

Bathrobes and slippers are also to be found in every bedroom.

Although both a laundry service and an ironing service are available on request, we will also provide an iron and ironing board, should a guest so prefer.

Moreover, guests will also find a telephone, a fridge-bar, an efficient safe, and an electric kettle. There is also a selection of teas, including herbal teas, and ‘Nescafe’ instant coffee, complete with fresh milk and sugar, all replenished every day.

What time is breakfast served?

Breakfast is served from 07:30 until 10:45 in our beautiful1920s breakfast room, were elegance and charm blend seamlessly. The space is bathed in the soft, natural Mediterranean light that pours in through tall, oval windows, casting a warm glow across the room overlooking our terraced gardens. Alternatively dine on the Belvedere terrace, all with stunning panoramic views of the garden, sea, and Mount Etna. Here at The Hotel Villa Belvedere, it’s always been at our core to champion local suppliers and produce to help our environment thrive. A very generous, delicious buffet is available for our guests with our commitment to natural, fresh, home-grown, and local produce, including a selection of fresh fruits, artisan breads and pastries prepared daily by our resident pastry chef, cheeses, yogurts, and cured meats. Also on request, we offer flavoursome pancakes, crêpes, omelettes, and full cooked breakfasts. The combination of natural light, warm sunshine, and thoughtfully curated decor makes this breakfast room and terrace not just a place to eat, but a delightful retreat where every morning feels like a special occasion. It's a great way to start your day in beautiful Taormina.  Room service breakfast is also possible on request with a supplementary charge.

Does the hotel have a “concierge service,” that will give details about places to see, and possible excursions and is it possible to book some, in advance.?

We don’t actually have just one concierge in particular, as all our reception staff are very knowledgeable and always courteously friendly, as guests discover, once they are here.

Reception staff are all very pleased and ready to chat with guests and offer any information requested or needed.

On request they will also make reservations for excursions, or for restaurants, and so on, once guests arrive, as normally it is not necessary to do so in advance.

Is free Wi-Fi available in the hotel?

Yes, Wi-Fi is available free of charge everywhere in the hotel and external accommodation, as well as complimentary internet points for our guests’ use, also free of charge.

Is there a carpark at the hotel?

The Hotel Villa Belvedere offers secure, video-monitored parking with a supplement, inside our gates, and well within view of our reception staff. Only residents have permission to park on Taormina’s very narrow and medieval streets. Car parking is also available at public car parks, outside the town centre. There is no need for you to book parking with us in advance. Our reception/concierge team will help anytime you may need, just ask us on your arrival.

Do you serve lunch at Villa Belvedere?

Yes, we do, at our poolside, open-air, bar-restaurant, situated among our own gardens, and overlooking the sea, where there is a variety of freshly prepared, à la carte light lunches available. These also include several tasty pasta dishes, as well as some delicious Sicilian specialities, and good local wines, etc., all at very acceptable prices.

While the restaurant is open between 11.30 am., and 4:30 pm., snacks, drinks and ice-creams are available all day at the bar, from early April until October.

Can you recommend good, local restaurants for evening meals?

Yes, we can, and all our  recommendations are based on our previous guests’ feedback, so, although we do not normally offer restaurant service as such, in the evenings because from experience, we know that visitors to Taormina,  usually like to go wandering  through the intriguing streets and squares of the pretty, town-centre, at just a few minutes stroll from Villa Belvedere, reception staff can of course, describe the  many good local restaurants, of various types, that are  open for evening meals.

Reception staff will explain how to reach them, of course, and if required, or necessary, - on request, they will make a reservation.

Is it possible to order a pizza and have it delivered to eat at the hotel?

Yes, on request, we can order various types of Pizzas and similar finger-food from a good, local Pizzeria; prepared, and delivered to the hotel, in about 30 minutes. More information at reception.

On advance request, of several hours, however, a good, cold meal can be organised in the evening at Villa Belvedere, with dishes prepared according to guests’ preference.

Is it possible for you to book a restaurant for us, before we arrive?

Because we are usually able to book a restaurant table for our guests, in most restaurants, on a certain day and at a certain time, it is preferable not to request a table-booking  at a specific restaurant, before arriving at Villa Belvedere, so as to avoid possible last minute change of mind, late arrival, and so on, that can seriously disrupt  a restaurant’s  scheduling of their operations etc.

Once you are here, our  very knowledgeable, and courteously friendly, reception staff, will be pleased to give you information about  the various types of very good, local restaurants, including the renowned - Pizzeria Villa Zuccaro, Rosmarino, Andreas, Vicolo Stretto, Trattoria Tirami Su, Malvasia Bistrot du Monde, or the wine-specialist restaurant Vineria Modì, as well as the Paladino restaurant, that specialises in fresh fish dishes, all within easy walking distance from our gates and on request, bookable by reception staff.

Please do not hesitate to ask, should you need any further information.

How can I reach the hotel by car from outside Taormina?

The easiest way to reach the Hotel Villa Belvedere is to insert “Via Roma” into your GPS/Sat Nav. This is a one-way street leading to the hotel, which you will find just after the beautiful public garden on your right, Parco Comunale di Taormina, created as a private garden by an English woman, Florence Trevelyan Cacciola. Here the most stupendous view of Mount Etna can be admired.
The GPS does work well on flat surfaces; however, Taormina is a beautiful hilltop town. Be mindful of the narrow roads in Taormina and drive carefully!
